A Taste of Greece, hosted by St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church, returns to Durham on Oct. 5-6, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Held since about 2010, this event is a lower-key companion to the church’s annual Durham Greek Festival. It offers food, tours of the church iconography, a Greek market, and an Attic Treasures sales area. This event does not include youth dancing performances.
“Our entire St. Barbara community comes together to host this annual fall event, a feast that nourishes the body and the spirit,” said Demi Vlachos, a longtime parishioner and promoter of the church’s cultural events. “It’s a joy to share our rich traditions, music, and flavorful Greek food with our guests. Many return to A Taste of Greece and our spring fundraiser, the Durham Greek Festival, with their friends and families year after year. We’re very grateful for their support!”
This year’s event will continue to provide post-pandemic tented dining or takeout options.
The menu includes spanakopita, pastitsio, moussaka, gyros, hot dogs, Greek wine and beer, Greek salads, as well as desserts.
The church is located at 8306 NC Highway 751, about a half mile south of Interstate 40 exit 274 (Jordan Lake).
