Aldi stays under $50 as potatoes and lettuce get pricier

SoDu Price Check - Week of Oct. 7, 2026

Aldi remained the least expensive stop for Southpoint Access’s 17-item SoDu Shopping Basket this week, with a $49.25 total that was just 10 cents higher than last week.

The average cost across the nine stores reached $66.95 in our Oct. 7 comparison, up 20 cents, or about 0.3%, from Sept. 30. That modest change included some bigger swings on individual items, particularly potatoes, lettuce, ground beef, and toilet paper.

Most prices held steady. Of the 153 prices in the comparison, 124 were unchanged, 15 declined, and 14 increased.
