APS Pet of the Week: Socks
Socks is an energetic large dog available for adoption from the Animal Protection Society of Durham.
Here are his biographical details, provided by APS of Durham:
One week after Valentine’s day and still waiting for your boyfriend to show up with flowers? Socks would never disappoint you like that! An affectionate and eager to please boy, he’s the perfect one for anyone willing to offer him belly rubs and scritches. Socks is currently learning how to safely play with other dogs but he’s doing really well. He can be quite anxious here at the shelter but after being taken on hikes around Durham, we saw a confident and calm side of our silly guy. He does not do well with feline friends or small dogs and needs some time to warm up, but that’s understandable since he was found as a stray and has spent the past 4+ months here at the shelter. Please consider adopting Socks today, or at least think about it!
Kids: 10+ due to anxious nature, sometimes worried by strangers.
Dogs: slow and careful intros, meet and greet recommended.
Socks recently spent some time out of the shelter; here’s what the humans had to say about him:
I took Socks out for a hike today at Eno River and we had the best time. He was great in the car, relaxing in the back with a toy and treat. He is a wonderful hiking companion: he kept a good pace, was so excited to meet and greet other hikers, and was very calm when we saw other dogs on the trail, waiting patiently for them to walk by us. He got many compliments which is not surprising because he is an adorable, well-behaved gentle guy. He was so happy to be on the trail and explore a new area. He also got a pup cup which I think was his favorite part of the adventure. Socks is the man!
