Beat the Clock and Help Hope Valley Elementary School!
Midnight tonight, our revenue-sharing effort with the Hope Valley Elementary PTA ends. End the old year on a high note, supporting students and neighborhood news in South Durham!
Hey, neighbors!
Before I settle in for the series finale of Stranger Things (and then probably fall asleep before the ball drops in Times Square), I just wanted to throw out a quick thanks to Holly, Ann, and other folks who have donated, subscribed, or become Southpoint Access sponsors during the past couple of months.
A portion of those revenues has been earmarked to the Hope Valley Elementary School PTA, which they could use for classroom snacks, special events, or school beautification projects. I confess it's been a little addictive, sharing these funds with a local school. My little news site is still young, so the grumpy business angel on one shoulder tells me to keep it all for myself, especially because I'm not making a fortune doing this. But what's the point of talking the talk of being a neighborhood news site for South Durham if I'm not also walking the walk and paying at least a little something forward?
So, yes, I consider it important to give a share of my revenue to Hope Valley's PTA. In 2026, I'll find a new organization to support (and I'm open to suggestions).
