During the Jan. 4 work session, members of the Durham City Council cast ballots and narrowed the field of 14 candidates hoping to fill the Ward 3 seat vacated when Leonardo Williams became mayor.
Four candidates received at least four votes to become finalists:
- Amanda Borer, administrative director for neurosciences at Duke University Health System.
- Shelia Huggins, Durham attorney with municipal government experience.
- Chelsea Cook, attorney with Legal Aid of North Carolina’s Durham Eviction Diversion Program.
- Chastain Swain, law and policy advisor for the State of North Carolina.
The finalists are set to be interviewed during a meeting on Jan. 8.
