City of Durham Plans Closures and Service Changes for MLK Day

Solid Waste Management
The Solid Waste Management Department will close on Monday, Jan. 20. All curbside collection services, including garbage, recycling, and yard waste, will be delayed by one business day.
The Waste Disposal and Recycling Center, Yard Waste Facility, and Household Hazardous Waste Center will also close on Jan. 20.
Residents can sign up for collection day alerts and holiday service reminders via the Solid Waste Management Department's webpage or by downloading the free Durham Rollout app from the Apple or Google Play stores.
City Council Meeting
The Durham City Council will hold its regular business meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 21, at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall.
The meeting will be livestreamed on the City’s website, YouTube, and Facebook pages, and on Roku, Apple TV, and Amazon Fire TV through the free Boxcast app. It will also be televised live on Durham Television Network (Spectrum channel 8 or digital channel 1302, Frontier channel 70, and AT&T U-verse channel 99).

Durham Parks and Recreation (DPR)
The DPR administrative office and all facilities will close on Monday, Jan. 20.
In honor of Martin Luther King Jr., DPR will host MLK Event: Remembering the Legacy through the Arts on Saturday, Jan. 11, from 2 to 5 p.m. at W.D. Hill Recreation Center, 1308 Fayetteville St. This free public event will commemorate Dr. King’s life and contributions through the arts.

Downtown Parking
The Park Durham Customer Service Center will close on Monday, Jan. 20.
On City-designated holidays, parking is free in on-street spaces, select City-owned parking garages, and surface lots. GoDurham and GoDurham ACCESS
GoDurham and GoDurham ACCESS will operate on a Sunday-level service schedule on Monday, Jan. 20.

Water and Sewer Emergencies
For water main breaks or sewer overflow emergencies during holidays, after-hours, or weekends, residents should call the Water Management Department’s emergency line at 919-560-4344. On-call crews will be dispatched as needed.
