City Services Affected by Good Friday Holiday

City Services Affected by Good Friday Holiday

The City of Durham has announced several service changes for Good Friday, March 29, 2024, affecting residents of South Durham and the wider community. City offices, including City Hall and all non-emergency facilities, will be closed in observance of the holiday.

  • Curbside Solid Waste Collections: Services will proceed as usual from Monday to Thursday. However, Friday yard waste collections will be postponed to Monday, April 1. The Waste Disposal and Recycling Center, along with other waste facilities, will also close on March 29 and 30, reopening on April 1.
  • Parks and Recreation: The DPR administrative office and facilities, including indoor pools, will be closed on March 29 and 31, with exceptions for recreation centers holding church rentals. Lake Michie will maintain regular hours, but Little River Lake remains closed for the season.
  • Downtown Parking: The Park Durham Customer Service Center will not be operational on Good Friday. Parking downtown will be free in designated areas and facilities.
  • Public Transportation: GoDurham and GoDurham ACCESS will run their normal weekday schedules.
  • Durham One Call: The service request line will be closed, but residents can still submit requests online, via the Durham One Call app, text, or by leaving a voicemail.
  • Water and Sewer Emergencies: The emergency contact number for water main breaks or sewer overflows will remain available.

Residents are encouraged to prepare for these changes and enjoy the holiday safely.
