The old Sears location at The Streets at Southpoint is in the process of becoming a new Dick's House of Sport site. Planning documents indicate the project includes converting one parking lot into a multi-use turf field ringed by a track.

It's not clear yet how soon the new House of Sport location will open, but work is underway. The building architect is listed as Fox Design Group in Solon, Ohio. Kimley-Horn and Associates in Durham is acting as civil engineer.

The current closest House of Sport is in Fayetteville. These stores offer golf, bicycle, and baseball and softball services, with options for birthday parties, group outings, and community events.
