School District Leaders Aim to Control Damage in Aftermath of Indictments
On Thursday, Durham Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Anthony Lewis did what he could to assuage the concerns of the community after two district administrators and a school principal were indicted by a grand jury, accused of obstruction of justice and perjury.
"There are thousands of families across the Durham community who place their trust in us each day, not just to educate their children, but to keep them safe," Lewis said. "Both of these responsibilities are critically important, but our most fundamental job is to ensure that our students are safe."
