Dr. Kecia Rogers, principal of Rogers-Herr Middle School, on March 1 becomes the assistant superintendent for middle schools in Durham Public Schools.
According to DPS, Rogers-Herr has consistently met or exceeded growth under her leadership. She’s a product of the district and worked as a teacher at Southwest Elementary School for 10 years before transitioning to school administration. She also has served as principal of W.G. Pearson and C.C. Spaulding elementary schools.

On March 1, Roger-Herr’s current assistant principal, Tawauna Stewart, will become the interim principal for the middle school. She’s been with DPS for nearly 20 years and started as a teacher at Pearsontown Elementary School.
Both Rogers and Stewart earned master degrees from N.C. Central University and doctorates from High Point University.
