Durham Public Schools, facing a student population decline despite an influx of new Bull City residents, on Saturday holds its annual Showcase of Schools to make the case that families should put their kids in DPS classrooms.

The event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., was delayed from late 2025. It'll be held at Northern High School, at 4622 N. Roxboro Rd.

During the event, families can learn about neighborhood, zoned schools, and application/magnet options, such as year-round, Montessori, and dual-language immersion.

Three information panels are planned:

  • 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.: Transition to Kindergarten
  • 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.: Navigating Magnet and Lottery Options in DPS
  • 1 to 2 p.m.: Demystifying School Options: Charter, Public, and Everything in Between

All children attending can take home a free book from Book Harvest.
