Drive a Kia Telluride? Beware the Fire Risk!
Kia America has issued a “park outside” recall for 462,869 model year 2020-2024 Telluride vehicles because of a risk of fire while parked or driving.
The automaker advises owners to park their vehicles outside and away from other vehicles and structures until the recall repair is completed.
The front power seat motor in the affected vehicles can overheat due to a stuck power seat slide knob, potentially resulting in a fire and increasing the risk of injury.
To address the issue, dealers will install a bracket for the power seat switch back covers and replace the seat slide knobs at no cost to the owner.
Owners will be notified by mail starting July 30 and can contact Kia customer service at 800-333-4542. Kia’s recall number is SC316.
Kia vehicle owners can also visit NHTSA.gov/recalls or call the NHTSA’s Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 to check if their vehicle is under recall. NHTSA encourages everyone to download its SaferCar app to stay informed on current recalls.
