  • “My Friend Abe:” A Holocaust Survivor’s Story. Teens and adults. Pre-registration required. Abe Piasek was 13 in 1942 when he was taken from his family. He never saw his parents or little sister again, and spent the next three years in three forced labor camps. 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the main auditorium of the main library branch, 300 N.   • Community Meeting: Discussing Soil Contamination in Five Durham Parks. Hear from experts about the status of soil lead and other contaminants at East Durham, East End, Lyon Park, Northgate, and Walltown parks. Free snacks and children’s activities available. Read a nature-themed book, then take a walk on the wild side. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and wear boots or sneakers that can get dirty.
