Durham City Service Changes for Memorial Day
Most City of Durham offices, including City Hall and all nonemergency city facilities and operations, will close May 27 in observance of Memorial Day.
Curbside Solid Waste Collections
The Solid Waste Management Department will close May 27. All curbside collections for garbage, recycling and yard waste will be delayed by one business day. Customers with Friday yard waste and bulky item requests will receive their curbside collections June 3.
The Waste Disposal and Recycling Center, Yard Waste Facility and the Household Hazardous Waste Center will close May 27. To sign up for collection day alerts and holiday service change reminders, visit the department’s webpage or download the free Durham Rollout app.
Parks and Recreation
Durham Parks and Recreation will close its administrative office and all facilities May 27. Athletic fields and picnic shelters are available for rent, and city lakes will operate under their regular schedules May 24-27 from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Edison Johnson, East End Park and Forest Hills Park spraygrounds open for the season May 24 and will be open to the public on Memorial Day. For information about programs, activities, and events, visit the department’s webpage.
Downtown Parking
The Park Durham Customer Service Center will close May 27. On city-designated holidays, downtown parking is free in on-street spaces, some city-owned parking garages and city-owned surface parking lots. To check the Special Event Parking Schedule, where the $7 per vehicle rate goes into effect in the Durham Centre, Corcoran Street and Church Street garages 90 minutes before scheduled events, visit the Special Event Parking Calendar.
GoDurham and GoDurham ACCESS

Durham One Call
Durham One Call will close May 27. Residents may submit service requests in the following ways, and staff will forward requests for city services to the appropriate department on the next business day:

Water and Sewer Emergencies
Calls for service about water main breaks and sewer overflows after hours, on weekends or on city-recognized holidays should be directed to the Water Management Department’s after-hours emergency number at 919-560-4344, which will dispatch on-call crews.
