Durham Company Joins AI Research Consortium

The OpenFold AI Research Consortium, a leading non-profit focused on developing free and open-source software tools for biology and drug discovery, announced the addition of six new industry members. Among the new members is Polaris Quantum Biotech, a Durham-based company specializing in quantum computing for drug discovery.

Polaris Quantum Biotech joins Astex Pharmaceuticals, Biogen, Congruence Therapeutics, Psivant Therapeutics, and SandboxAQ in the consortium, which aims to accelerate drug discovery through the use of advanced AI technologies.

“Polaris Quantum Biotech is thrilled to join OpenFold and its community of like-minded companies. We are especially excited to contribute to the development of open-source tools to expedite drug discovery,” said Dr. Shahar Keinan, CEO of PolarisQB, in a news release.

OpenFold, established in February 2022, is a project of the Open Molecular Software Foundation. The consortium fosters collaboration between academia and industry to develop AI-driven solutions that aim to transform healthcare and life sciences.
