Durham City Council on Monday is expected to consider a request to replace an existing Camden Avenue concrete plant and a nearly $7.8 million agreement to maintain the area's public safety radio network.

The Sunrock proposal comes with competing assessments of whether the industrial use fits its surroundings. Planning staff flag nearby housing and development policies, while the applicant points to the property's existing plant and other industrial operations along Camden Avenue.

The meeting starts at 7 p.m. in the first-floor Council Chambers at 101 City Hall Plaza. The agenda and supporting materials also include workforce funding, water system generator maintenance, and a proposed sewer easement acquisition.
