Durham County Launches Art Contest for Mobile Public Service Bus Wrap

Durham County is calling all local artists and young creatives to participate in an exciting public art contest for the “DCo On The Go Bus,” a new mobile vehicle initiative designed to enhance public outreach and service delivery within the county. This vehicle, soon to be a mobile office, will offer a range of services including broadband access and meeting spaces, serving as a pivotal point for community engagement.

For Adult Artists (18 and Up): Artists in this category have the unique opportunity to design the bus wrap for the sides of the DCo On The Go Bus. The competition is fierce but rewarding, with prizes of $1,000 for 1st place, $500 for 2nd, and $250 for 3rd.

For Youth Artists (Grades 6-12): Younger artists are encouraged to unleash their creativity on the rear of the bus, with prizes of $250 for 1st place, $100 for 2nd, and $50 for 3rd place.

Eligibility and Design Guidelines:

  • All participants must be current residents of Durham County.
  • Designs must utilize the Durham County color palette as outlined in the Durham County Brand Standards Guide.
  • Submitted designs must be original, without copyrighted images unless approved by the copyright owner.
  • Artworks must be free from derogatory or offensive content and should reflect the diversity and spirit of Durham County, incorporating local symbols and landmarks.

Important Dates:

  • Submission Deadline: April 12, 2024
  • Winners Announcement: June 10, 2024, during the Durham Board of County Commissioners’ Regular Session Meeting.
