Durham Del Taco Pushing to 2025?

Earlier this year, popular Mexican quick-service chain Del Taco indicated it would open a new restaurant in the old Thai 55 location near the intersection of NC Highways 54 and 55 sometime in September 2024.

That seems unlikely, given that the old restaurant building remains in place and work hasn’t yet started on the site to make way for the new restaurant.

But a news release issued on July 25 suggests that opening date may have been pushed back until 2025:

“The brand continues its momentum in the Carolinas with seven new restaurant commitments announced for the Wilmington, N.C., and Myrtle Beach, S.C., markets. This follows the brand’s three-store development agreement announced earlier this year in Greensboro, N.C., and a previously signed commitment for the Raleigh-Durham area. The brand plans to open its first units in the Raleigh-Durham and Greensboro markets in 2025.”

Del Taco, founded in 1964, has nearly 600 restaurants in 17 states.
