Durham Public Schools Adding New Principal, Building Services Chief
“It is a privilege to lead and serve a school community dedicated to excellence, inclusion, and student success," said Hodges.
Southern School of Energy and Sustainability gets a new principal in February, while a North Carolina Central University administrator moves to Durham Public Schools as senior executive director for building services.
Brandon Hodges, who has been assistant principal at Southeast Raleigh Magnet IB World High School in Wake County since 2022, will assume the post of principal at Southern on Feb. 3. He's a graduate of NCCU and UNC Chapel Hill, and earned his master's degree at Appalachian State University. He's working on his doctorate in educational leadership and administration through ASU.
“It is a privilege to lead and serve a school community dedicated to excellence, inclusion, and student success," said Hodges. "I am eager to collaborate with our talented staff, supportive families, and vibrant community to create a learning environment where every student can continue to build on their strengths and develop their full potential. Together, we will build on the school's strengths and create opportunities that empower our students to reach their greatest successes at this level and beyond.”
Micheal (pronounced me-haul) Lynch brings a background in project management and budgeting to his role in building services at DPS. For the past two years, Lynch has served NCCU as associate vice chancellor for facilities management. He graduated from Technological University in Dublin, Ireland, and has certifications from UNC School of Government, and NC State Energy Management, among others.
"I am delighted and excited to join Durham Public Schools and the Operations team in meeting the challenges of growth and maintaining facilities in support of the essential mission of providing a great and worthy educational experience," said Lynch. "I believe my 30 plus years of experience in all aspects of facilities management across both the public and private sectors will add value to this team."
