Durham Seeks Engineering Firm for Stormwater Retrofit Projects

City officials in Durham have invited bids from qualified engineering firms to complete a stormwater basin study to identify and design retrofits or restorations of stormwater systems in seven Equitable and Green Infrastructure neighborhoods.

Identified neighborhoods include:

  • Stokesdale
  • Merrick Moore
  • Lyon Park
  • Ganyard Farm
  • East Durham
  • Cornwallis
  • Braggtown

Durham is accepting bids until Jan. 18, 2024, for work that would include:

  • Planning
  • Conducting public meetings and community outreach
  • Assessing current storm drainage networks
  • Finding new opportunities to install stormwater control measures in new developments
  • Modeling and analysis
  • Producing preliminary and construction plans for projects

According to the request for proposal from the city, Durham officials expect services to be completed within 24 months of the Notice to Proceed, which is expected in March/April 2024.

Candidates are asked to submit their proposals in a sealed envelope to 101 City Hall Plaza, Third Floor Customer Service Desk, Durham, NC 27701 by 2 p.m. on Jan. 18. The package should include one bound original proposal and one CD-ROM or USB drive containing a digital copy in PDF format.

Companies submitting proposals should not appear on state treasurer’s lists of companies boycotting Israel or engaging in investment activities in Iran, according to the RFP.
