Calling All Water Wizards!

Calling All Water Wizards!

Where’s the magic in water conservation? The City of Durham’s Department of Water Management is calling all students (kindergarten through 8th grade) to share their visions in the 2024 annual poster contest.

The contest, open to students who are in public, private, or home schools in the city’s service area, follows the theme “Be a Water Wizard” and focuses on how to save water.

Posters will be judged in three divisions:

  • Kindergarten to 2nd: Division A.
  • 3rd to 5th: Division B.
  • 6th to 8th: Division C.

Winners get recognition from city officials. The top posters from each division go on to the state competition that’s sponsored by the N.C. Section of the American Water Works Association/Water Environment Association.

  • Posters must be submitted no later than April 12.
  • Students may submit directly to the city without school sponsorship.
  • Entries can be submitted online or mailed to: Water Conservation Poster Contest, 1600 Mist Lake Dr., Durham, NC 27704. Mailed entries should include a securely attached mail-in entry form on the back of the poster.

Residents get to vote on fan favorites April 13-19. Winners from each division will be announced May 5.
