Friends of the Durham Library Announce 2024 Scholarship Winners

Four Durham County Library employees received scholarships from The Friends of the Durham Library for the 2024 Academic Scholarship Program. The annual program, which awards scholarships of up to $2,500, goes to library employees pursuing studies in library science or related fields.

  • Jana Bradley will begin the Library Science MLS program at North Carolina Central University (NCCU) this fall, focusing on public or special libraries. She aims to enhance her data and mapping skills for her role at the Durham County Library’s Small Business Center.
  • Lucia Drinkwalter started the Library Science MLS program at NCCU last fall, concentrating on public libraries. She plans to lead adult programming at North Regional Library with her new qualifications.
  • Elle Farmer has completed her first semester in NCCU’s online Library Science MLS program. Her studies are centered on the implementation and impact of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programming.
  • Patrick O’Grady will embark on a Library Science MLS degree at either NCCU or the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. His goal is to develop skills to better serve Durham’s community of lifelong learners.

Friends of the Durham Library, or FODL, is an all-volunteer non-profit organization that helps raise funds for programs, services, and materials for Durham County libraries.
