Hope Valley Elementary Hosts Town Hall on Durham Transportation Plan
The meeting, in the school's media center from 6 to 7:30 p.m., is expected to help families understand the new no-bus situation that affects about 180 children who attend Hope Valley.
Hope Valley Elementary School families affected by the new "family responsibility zones" about to be implemented by Durham Public Schools are encouraged to attend a town hall meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 14.
The meeting, in the school's media center from 6 to 7:30 p.m., is expected to help families understand the new no-bus situation that affects about 180 children who attend Hope Valley.
Family responsibility zones are going into effect around 21 DPS elementary schools, including Hope Valley, on Jan. 22. Families who live a certain distance from school - as much as a mile in some cases - are expected to provide their own means for students to get to and from school, whether that's on foot, on a bicycle, or in the family car.
But that's proving to be a significant problem for families with working parents or who lack reliable transportation.
How will your child get to school? Hope Valley administrators want to hear from you. Complete this survey (en Espanol or English).
