[In Memoriam] Michael Todd Cromer, 57

The following obituary was originally published by Hall-Wynne Funeral Home:

Michael Todd Cromer, 57, died May 4, 2024, at Duke University Hospital. He was born June 16, 1966, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, to the late Peggy N. Smith and Clade A. Cromer.

Todd, a loving husband, father, and friend, grew up in Kernersville and made lifelong friends in “K-Ville.” He graduated from East Forsyth High School in 1985, showing Eagle pride throughout his life. He applied to only one college, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was admitted. At UNC, he majored in economics, worked as a resident assistant, and formed many enduring friendships. His Carolina friends still attempt yearly reunions. Todd was often found on Sundays at the Ye Ole’ Waffle Shoppe, reading one or two newspapers. He worked through college to pay his tuition and met his future wife, Molly Steinfeld, there.

Todd was employed by the Chapel Hill Restaurant Group, where he worked at Squids, 411 West, and helped open 518 West and Mez. He later found his passion in real estate, working as a REALTOR® at Peak Swirles & Cavillto Properties, where he thrived due to his extroverted and fun personality.

Golf was a significant part of Todd’s life. He loved playing, competing, coaching, watching, and discussing the sport. He coached the Jordan High School golf team in 2017 and 2018 and served as the booster president for two years.

A celebration of life will be held later this summer; details will be announced later.

Todd is survived by his wife, Molly; son, Davis; and many other loving family members.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the United Leukodystrophy Foundation at https://ulf.org/donate/. Todd battled Alexander’s Disease for many years.
