🎥 Join the Livestream Fundraiser for Hope Valley & Rogers-Herr - Sept. 17!
About 9 a.m., I'll open up the stream on Riverside.fm for folks to watch me babble about community news, Southpoint Access, my background in journalism, OtherSpace MUSH, and more!
I'm ready to exhaust myself by yammering on a livestream all day Wednesday, but you can shut me up pretty quickly if we do our best to reach the goals for Hope Valley Elementary School and Rogers-Herr Middle School.
My daughter Athena attends Hope Valley, which aims to raise $40,000 through its non-corporate, homegrown fundraiser. My son John Michael attends Rogers-Herr, with a goal of $15,000. They're running a traditional Boosterthon.
So, about 9 a.m. on Sept. 17, I'll open up the stream on Riverside.fm for folks to watch me babble about community news, Southpoint Access, my background in journalism, OtherSpace MUSH and other game development experiences, my ongoing affinity for U2, nerdy topics that I normally reserve for discussions with my buddy Jeff Stanford on Nerdspresso Phase II, and who knows what else?
Well, maybe you know what else. Anyone who contributes cash to these schools during the marathon is welcome to ask questions in the chat. If you donate $100 or more, you can join the livestream as a guest for at least five minutes and we'll hear what's on your mind.
Why am I doing this? Well, both schools serve diverse, dynamic student populations and they need resources, programming, and initiatives that go beyond what public funding currently provides. With your help, we can build a stronger foundation for student success, and show what South Durham can accomplish together.
And maybe you can't hang out watching a livestream all day. That's fine! Pop in when you can, donate any time, and spread the word about the fundraisers to your friends, neighbors, and fellow supporters of Durham Public Schools.
Let's follow this stream to real differences for Hope Valley and Rogers-Herr!
