Kids Voting Durham Offers Summer Civic Leadership Opportunities

Kids Voting Durham, an organization dedicated to fostering civic engagement among youth, announces an opportunity for individuals aged 14-24 to contribute to the design of the KVD 2024 Election Guide. This initiative not only allows participants to gain valuable experience in civic engagement, but also offers paid and volunteer positions.

The project is seeking three team leads who will be compensated with a $3,000 stipend for their work approximately 28 hours per week from June 17 to Aug. 9. These positions will be based in the office at Durham County Cooperative Extension. Interested candidates must apply by April 19 through this link.

Additionally, KVD is looking for 25 youth civic leaders to fill volunteer positions. These volunteers are expected to commit 6-8 hours per week from June 24 to August 2, including participation in 2-3 weekly 90-minute Zoom or hybrid group sessions. This is a great opportunity to earn service hours and gain firsthand experience in civic leadership. Applications for these roles are open until May 15 and can be submitted here.

An information session will be held via Zoom on April 9 for those interested in learning more about the roles and the project itself. For further information, potential applicants can reach out to info@kidsvotingdurham.org.

Since its inception in 1999, Kids Voting Durham has been instrumental in educating youth under 18 about the importance of voting and active participation in democracy. This project offers a unique opportunity for young individuals to engage directly with Durham and North Carolina elected officials and candidates, receive training from experts in various fields, and contribute to important civic engagement products.
