Lane Closures Possible Near N.C. 54 This Week
Waterline work could affect traffic on Nelson Highway and Stancell Drive from July 20-24.

Drivers in southeast Durham may encounter short-term lane closures this week as work continues on the city’s N.C. 54 Waterline Replacement Project.
From Monday, July 20, through Friday, July 24, contractors plan to:
- Cap the old water main near Nelson Highway and Celeste Circle.
- Connect a new water main to the existing system on the south side of N.C. 54 near Farrington Road.
- Connect a new water main at Downing Creek Parkway and Stancell Drive.
Short-term lane closures are possible along portions of Nelson Highway, also known as the N.C. 54 Service Road, and Stancell Drive. Flaggers will maintain two-way traffic through the affected areas.
Drivers should allow extra travel time and watch for workers, equipment, and changing traffic patterns.
The work schedule may change because of weather or other construction conditions.
