Meeting Planned for Strauss Drive Townhouses Project
The plan calls for 7.11 units per acre with an active open space, a $5,000 donation to Durham Public Schools, and assurances that a handful of units will be priced as affordable housing.
More than 13 acres of vacant commercial property near the corner of Miami Boulevard and Angier Avenue could become a 95-unit project called Strauss Drive Townhouses.
Parker Poe, attorneys representing the developer, will host a virtual neighborhood meeting about the project on Jan. 16. The developer is listed as RTP Commercial LLC, whose registered agent is Jerry McLaurin, a Raleigh real estate investor.
According to the meeting packet, the plan calls for 7.11 units per acre with an active open space, a $5,000 donation to Durham Public Schools, and assurances that a handful of units will be priced as affordable housing.
Developers want the land rezoned from commercial center to residential suburban multi-family and commercial center with a development plan. The proposal is expected to reach the Durham Planning Commission in February.
The virtual neighborhood meeting on Jan. 16 will run from 6 to 7 p.m. via Zoom.
