Most City of Durham Offices Closed for Juneteenth

The City of Durham will observe the Juneteenth holiday on Monday, June 20, 2022. Most city offices, including City Hall and all non-emergency city operations, will be closed to the public. Emergency services will remain available by calling 911, and non-emergency concerns can be directed to (919) 560-4600.

Garbage, Recycling, and Yard Waste Collection

The Solid Waste Management Department will be closed on Monday, June 20. Curbside collections for garbage, recycling, and yard waste will be delayed by one business day. Friday yard waste customers will receive their collections on Monday, June 27. The Waste Disposal and Recycling Center, Yard Waste Facility, and Household Hazardous Waste Center will also be closed on June 20. City Council Meeting

The City Council meeting is rescheduled for Tuesday, June 21, at 7 p.m. This meeting will be livestreamed on the city’s website, YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter pages, and on Roku, Apple TV, and Amazon Fire TV through the free Boxcast app. It will also be televised live on Durham Television Network (Spectrum channel 8, Frontier channel 70, and AT&T U-verse channel 99). Parks and Recreation

Durham Parks and Recreation will close its administrative office and all facilities on Monday, June 20. City lakes will be open under their normal schedules from Friday, June 17, through Monday, June 20.

Parking

The Park Durham Customer Service Center will be closed on Monday, June 20. On city-designated holidays, downtown parking is free in on-street parking spaces, city-owned parking garages, and city-owned surface parking lots.

Durham One Call Service Requests

Durham One Call will be closed on Monday, June 20. Residents may submit requests in the following ways, and Durham One Call will forward all requests for city services to the appropriate department on the next business day:

  • Make an online service request.
  • Use the free Durham One Call smartphone app available in the Apple and Google Play stores.
  • Leave a message at (919) 560-1200.

Water and Sewer Emergencies

For water main breaks and sewer overflow calls after-hours, on weekends, or on city-recognized holidays, contact the Water Management Department’s after-hours emergency phone number at (919) 560-4344, which will dispatch on-call crews.
