[Nerdspresso] I Look Like Teen Wolf’s Dad. No Offense, Mate.

About five years ago, I was on vacation with my family in the U.K. We spent a day in Wales, and on the train back to London from Cardiff, we were sitting with a crowd of jovial Welshmen. They were all dressed in rugby jerseys and voraciously downing 16-ounce cans of lager. They filled the car with singing and chanting, and aside from the noise, they were a pretty congenial lot. I sure wasn’t going to tell them to be quiet.

The train hit a delay. We ended up stranded with these guys on a platform somewhere between Wales and England. They started to sober up. Since they had run out of songs, they began to talk with us. Turns out they were all husbands and dads blowing off steam, celebrating a friend’s 40th birthday with a weekend in London. We were chatting when one of them looked me over and said I reminded him of someone famous.

I’d always fancied myself as having a celebrity doppelganger, so I asked him to elaborate. Still slightly inebriated, he asked me if I’d ever seen Teen Wolf. Being a big Michael J. Fox fan, I was extremely flattered, even if I didn’t see the resemblance myself.

“You look like Teen Wolf’s dad,” he said, then added, “No offense, mate.”
