New Bank Coming to Ellis Crossing

Construction is underway on a new branch of First National Bank near the Publix at Marketplace at Ellis Crossing.

The building is expected to be 2,805 square feet, according to Durham Planning Department records.

The Business Insider site last month listed FNB as the best bank for opening a checking account in North Carolina, citing the institution's low-fee checking account. Opening an account at a brick-and-mortar branch doesn't require an initial deposit. Doing so online requires a deposit of $50. The bank maintains 800 ATMs in seven East Coast states.

Other FNB branches can be found on Westgate Drive, Carver Street, and Page Road.
