Help for a Furred Friend?

Neighbor Cathy Solis from Woodcroft reported a found puppy – perhaps 6 to 9 weeks old – that was found abandoned in the middle of the road on Dec. 30. Her family took to him, but he has since tested positive for parvovirus and worms.

“He still won’t eat or drink and is very lethargic but he will pop his head with those big ears up every now and then to see what’s happening,” Solis wrote. “We’re hoping we caught the virus early enough for a good chance at survival.”

The vet visit, including fluids, antibiotics, and deworming treatment cost about $517. However, there’s still three to five more days of care needed in-clinic, estimated at about $3,000. A GoFundMe site has been set up for the dog known as Lincoln (Link for short).

Potential Scam Warning

Neighbor Ruthie Lyle-Cannon from Hope Creek warned about an automated call reportedly from Duke Health, asking for a call back. Lyle-Cannon investigated and found others received similar fictitious calls. “I blocked the number and didn’t call back,” she wrote. “I wanted to share this because I could see some unsuspecting soul being duped.”

Durham County Seeks Website Redesign Input

Alesha Watson, public information specialist for Durham County Government, reported that county officials want citizen input about a comprehensive redesign of its website.

“What are you looking for when visiting the Durham County website? Are you able to find the information? What do you like about the current site, and what do you dislike?” Watson wrote. “The answers to these questions and others will help us improve your experience. We want to develop a site that responds to your needs.”
