RDC races draw 1,000 registrants to Southpoint, with profits supporting ALS research
Sunday’s event includes four race distances, a revised marathon route, and traffic impacts at trail crossings from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The RDC Marathon and its companion races have 1,000 runners registered for Sunday at The Streets at Southpoint, according to race director Jason Biggs.
The event includes a full marathon, half marathon, 10K, and 5K, with profits supporting ALS research through the Team Drea Foundation.
“100% of the profits go to ALS research through donations and registrations,” Biggs said.
ALS, short for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, damages nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord that control muscle movement. As the disease progresses, it can take away a person’s ability to walk, speak, swallow, and breathe independently. There's no cure, but treatments can help manage symptoms and slow progression.
