Scooter's Coffee Coming to South Durham

A popular Midwestern in-and-out coffee shop franchise is building its first location in Durham on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, next to Murphy Express gas station and Zip’s Car Wash and across the street from Planet Fitness.

Workers have assembled the framework for the new Scooter’s Coffee location at 1051 Martin Luther King Jr. Pkwy.

Scooter’s was founded in 1998 by Don and Linda Eckles in Bellevue, Nebraska. The menu includes hot and iced drinks, smoothies, teas, blenders, and food items such as tomato and feta omelet bites and breakfast burritos.

It’s not clear yet whether the shop will open in time for National Coffee Day on Sept. 29.
