SoDu Sweet Talk: Valentine’s Messages From the Neighborhood
Southpoint Access is an independent, locally owned news outlet focused on schools, neighborhoods, and community life in South Durham. Projects like SoDu Sweet Talk help support that work - while giving neighbors an easy way to celebrate love, gratitude, and community connection.

While we bundle up for the chilly end of January, I'm trying to do what local news does best: Keeping neighbors connected with articles about weather impacts, school updates, development news, and the small stories that make South Durham feel like home.

Here's a chance to warm two good things at once!

Through March 31, a percentage of all Southpoint Access revenue - subscriptions, donations, revenue - goes to the Rogers-Herr Middle School Music Boosters. Your paid subscription powers independent, locally-owned reporting and helps RHMS musicians with funds for student opportunities like their upcoming trip to Carowinds this spring.

When you become a paid subscriber, you help me:

  • Spend more time on school, development, and neighborhood news that matters to South Durham families.
  • Support freelance journalists who provide diverse voices for Southpoint Access.
  • Keep essential updates free for the whole community when we face the next big storm.

Can't afford a subscription but still want to help? Spread the word - send this email to other SoDu neighbors!

Thanks for helping local news - and student musicians in Durham's public schools - thrive in South Durham!

Best,

Wes Platt
Neighborhood News Guy

P.S.: The RHMS Music Boosters revenue share ends March 31. Joining now could make the biggest impact during the school year.
