Durham Public Schools officials on Friday announced that the 2025 Showcase of Schools planned for Saturday at N.C. Central University is postponed until an as-yet-uncertain future date.

"Our priority is the well being of our students, staff, and families," read a district statement sent out to families. "Please stay tuned for updates as new plans are finalized."

The announcement comes at the end of a week that has seen immigrant families and students made fearful about Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations in and around Durham and Raleigh.

Southpoint Access: Supporting Hope Valley Elementary PTA

South Durham neighbors: help fund local news and local classrooms.

From now through Dec. 31, 2025, Southpoint Access will share a portion of every revenue stream with the Hope Valley Elementary PTA (HVE PTA):

  • 20% of subscriptions (after standard processing fees)
  • 10% of donations (after fees)
  • 10% of sponsorships (net of documented hard costs)
