[SoDu Alert] Power Outage Strikes Hope Valley Farms

Neighborhoods in Hope Valley Farms along South Roxboro Street lost power early Friday, leaving hundreds of Duke Energy Carolinas customers without electricity.

Among those affected: students at Murray-Massenburg Elementary School, which released at 9:45 a.m. "due to an underground cable issue that created a power outage," according to Durham Public Schools spokesperson Crystal Kimpson Roberts.

By 1:36 p.m., it was estimated that power would be restored by 3:30 p.m.
