Durham Families Face Higher Afterschool Tuition Ahead
The Durham Public Schools Board of Education on Thursday voted 5-2 to increase tuition for afterschool and intersession camps by 50% - the first hike in 10 years.

The school district now lists a nonrefundable registration fee for elementary programs at $50 per child, up from $35 last year. The 20-day elementary afterschool fee is jumping 50% to $307.50, with a sibling rate of $270. Families aren't officially registered until they pay both the registration fee and one 20-day cycle fee.
