[SoDu How-To] Part 1: Before the First Day: Meals, Technology, Forms, and Fees for DPS Families
The first installment of Southpoint Access’ 2026-27 handbook guide explains free meals, Infinite Campus, device fees, privacy decisions, health forms, and volunteer requirements.

School handbooks tend to arrive at exactly the wrong moment.
Families are already sorting through supply lists, open houses, transportation arrangements, sports schedules, after-school care, and the uneasy realization that someone outgrew every acceptable pair of shoes during the summer.
Then comes a 43-page handbook filled with policies, forms, fees, warnings, phone numbers, and links.
Southpoint Access is breaking down the Durham Public Schools 2026-27 Student/Family Handbook into manageable pieces. This first installment focuses on the business families should handle before, or soon after, the first day of school.
Year-round students return July 20. Traditional-calendar students return Aug. 24.
