A Tale of Two New SoDu Play Places
Parents of young kids in South Durham rejoice as now we can set our little ones loose in not one but two nearby play places. In just the last month, two indoor play locations have opened in what was once the play place desert of SoDu, providing the ideal retreat from the heat of summer and dreary rainy days.

Join the Southpoint Access Subreddit!
South Durham deserves a space online where neighbors can connect, share updates, ask questions, and build community - and that’s exactly what I'm creating with the brand-new Southpoint Access subreddit.
Right now, it's pretty much a blank slate. That means you have the opportunity to help shape it into something useful and welcoming:
- Post about road construction or traffic delays
- Share school news, local business tips, or weekend plans
- Ask for advice, give recommendations, or just connect with others nearby
Whether you have one quick question or want to start a bigger conversation, Southpoint Access is here for South Durham residents to make it their own.

Matching Donor Steps Up for Parktown Food Hub
An anonymous donor is matching donations to the Parktown Food Hub – dollar for dollar, up to $1,000 – until July 1. “This incredible act of generosity will help put food on the tables of families in need,” said Lisa Greene, a member of the South Durham nonprofit organization’s board of directors. “We are beyond grateful for this matching donation, which will inspire others to give and double the impact of every contribution next month. Thanks to volunteers and donors like this, more people in our community will have access to nourishing meals.”
