🕊️ Durham Remembers DeWarren K. Langley, Advocate for Youth and Equity
Durham community leader DeWarren K. Langley passed away on Oct. 3 at the age of 41, just weeks after being hospitalized at Duke. A familiar voice at City Council meetings and executive director of the Charles Hamilton Houston Foundation, Langley was known for championing youth empowerment, entrepreneurship, and equity.
City Council members honored his legacy this week, remembering his relentless drive to hold leaders accountable and uplift the next generation.

🍗 The Chicken Hut Designated a Historic Landmark in Durham
The Chicken Hut, a beloved Black-owned soul food institution serving Durham since 1958, was officially recognized as a historic landmark by the City Council this week. Located on Fayetteville Street, the restaurant played a vital role in the civil rights movement, feeding demonstrators and serving as a hub for local activism.
City leaders praised the designation as a tribute to Black entrepreneurship, cultural heritage, and community resilience.
