On occasion, Southpoint Access will gather information from Durham County’s Public Health Department to get a snapshot of how facilities in this region are scoring on their inspections. In this report, we delve into recent reports on restaurants in the 27713 zipcode.
TL;DR Version: Top scores (100) went to AMC Southpoint 17, Blue Ridge Deli and Café, and Super Target Food Avenue. Lowest score (90.5) went to China Wok.
Akashi. 2223 NC Hwy 54. Inspection: July 18, 2024. Score: 99.5. Notes: Rusted racks in the walk-in cooler. Side doors open on two garbage receptacles.

Angie’s Jamaican Grill. 3825 S. Roxboro St. Inspection: July 24, 2024. Score: 97.5. Notes: Black tape on exterior of hot cabinet on the front makeline. Cleaning needed on outside of refrigeration units. Also need to clean splatter on walls throughout cooking area.
Barnes & Noble Booksellers Inc. 8030 Renaissance Pkwy., Ste. 855. Inspection: July 1, 2024. Score: 98.5. Notes: No certified food protection manager onsite during inspection. Half-and-half boxes in black boxes but not six inches above the floor. Debris under handwashing sink.
Blue Ridge Deli and Café. 3530 S. Alston Ave. Inspection: July 9, 2024. Score: 100. Notes: No notes.
Bonefish Grill. 7820 NC Hwy. 751. Inspection: July 8, 2024. Score: 97.5. Notes: Numerous containers with debris on them stored with clean dishes. Dishes stacked wet. Torn gaskets at double-door cooler and low boy near the fryer.
Brigs at the Park. 4900 NC Hwy. 55. Inspection: July 16, 2024. Score: 98. Notes: Stickers left on clean containers in the dish pit and some buildup on the ice machine deflector. Excessive chemical sanitizer reading.
Bua Thai. 5850 Fayetteville Rd., Ste. 101. Inspection: July 30, 2024. Score: 94. Notes: No certified food protection manager onsite during inspection. Cart with rice noodles blocked the handwashing sinks in the prep area. Tofu and cut lettuce lacked date marking. Unlabeled sanitizer bottles.
Buffalo Wild Wings. 6709 Fayetteville Rd. Inspection: July 17, 2024. Score: 95.5. Notes: Temperature-controlled foods in the expo cold well and its cold drawers were holding above 41 degrees Fahrenheit. Several boxes of food stored on the floor in the walk-in freezer. Walk-in freezer gasket still badly damaged. Excessive black buildup on walls in the chicken cooler.
Castello’N Pizza. 2110 Allendown Dr. Inspection: July 11, 2024. Score: 95. Notes: No employee health policy or reporting agreement documentation. No written procedures for vomit/diarrhea cleanup. No hand drying provision at handwashing sink. Broccoli florets with mold growth in two-door standing cooler. Raw eggs stored above ready-to-eat foods and sauces. Dough mixer hook still had food debris on it, but was stored as clean. Open sour cream, lettuce/salad mix, and ricotta without proper dates in low reach-in cooler.
China Wok. 3825 S. Roxboro St., Space 124. Inspection: July 11, 2024. Score: 90.5. Notes: Stool blocking the front handwashing sink. Two oils at the make line stored in unlabeled containers. Back door open during inspection with light visible beneath screen door. Container of eggs stored on floor in back corner of the walk-in cooler. Person in charge wasn’t wearing hair restraint while working with food.
Chipotle Mexican Grill. 6910 Fayetteville Rd., Ste. 187. Inspection: July 29, 2024. Score: 93. Notes: Food employee reheated chicken, but it was below 165 degrees Fahrenheit. Shredded cheese and sour cream in prep in a covered container held above 41 degrees Fahrenheit. Chicken and steak in hot holding below 135 degrees Fahrenheit. Green salsa and shredded cheese in make lines above 41 degrees Fahrenheit.
Circle K. 3308 NC Hwy. 55. Inspection: July 29, 2024. Score: 97. Notes: Pico de gallo and salsa in holding above 41 degrees Fahrenheit at the self-serve station.
Co Sushi. 8030 Renaissance Pkwy. Inspection: Aug. 1, 2024. Score: 96.5. Notes: No certified food protection manager onsite during inspection. No written health policy. No procedure for vomiting or diarrhea. Employee food and drink on shelf above the fish prep sink and employees eating in dishwasher area. Paper towels missing from handwashing sinks in the servers’ area and at the back. Unsalted butter and kimchi, shrimp, lettuce, cooked noodles, napa, and cooked chicken in the make line held at temperatures above 41 degrees Fahrenheit. Salmon, tuna, and Thai fish stacked high in the sushi make line. Pulled pork in drawer held above 41 degrees Fahrenheit. Tuna and salmon cooling, stored covered with tightened plastic wrap. Fish in sink without running water while thawing. Missing food temperature measuring device.
Cook Out. 2103 Allendown Dr. Inspection: July 31, 2024. Score: 98.5. Notes: Dishes stored as clean had food debris on them. Utensils stored with food contact surfaces hanging above the dirty side of the four-compartment sink. No covered trash can in the employee bathroom. Grout throughout the facility is badly worn, especially in front of the cook line.

Large amount of black buildup on upper part of ice machine. Clean equipment stored in multiple containers with food debris and residue in the bottom. Torn gasket on walk-in cooler door.

Shiki Sushi. 207 NC Hwy. 54. Inspection: July 2, 2024. Score: 95.5. Notes: Sanitizer at dish machine read a concentration of 0 ppm. Mixed cream cheese, buttermilk, unsalted butter, pimento cheese, and half-and-half in produce walk-in and ramen base made with garlic in the walk-in were holding above 41 degrees Fahrenheit. Missing soap at the handwashing sink at the back near the chicken prep sink. Cooked shrimp and crab meat on same shelf as raw tuna and salmon at tall reach-in at the back. Wrong expiration dates for opened food items, including ranch and Caesar dressing, ham, and roast tomato, Swiss cheese, and provolone cheese.
