[Southpoint Access] Subscriber Report - February 2024
In the interest of transparency, and because I want to track how Southpoint Access grows and evolves over time, I thought I’d start sharing monthly statistics with readers like you.
First, let me note that the projected readership area falls primarily inside zipcodes 27707, 27709, 27713, and 27517. The estimated population in the readership area: 116,000.
After just a few months of part-time news coverage available in Southpoint Access, the site has 43 subscribers. Obviously, I’ve got a long way to go before successfully building market awareness. I’m optimistic, though. I haven’t even spent any money on online advertising at this point. However, I have purchased business cards and magnetic signs for the sides of my car (be on the lookout for the Southpoint Access Mobile as it shuttles kids to school).
That said, Southpoint Access is getting visits from readers looking at free content, even if they don’t subscribe. Particularly during the past six weeks of unrest in Durham Public Schools, the site has had 3,628 visitors and 5,669 views.
- The most-read article: DPS Superintendent Resigns; Report Released.
- Busiest day on Southpoint Access: Feb. 8, 2024, when I published Good News, Bad News Night at DPS Board of Education.
- The top source of traffic coming to Southpoint Access: Facebook.
If you’re reading this and a subscriber: thanks for supporting ultra-local journalism in South Durham! If you’re not a subscriber yet, consider signing up. A monthly subscription is cheaper than a cup of fancy morning coffee, and less liable to give you the shakes (most of the time).
Expect more updates in the coming months.
