[Southpoint Access] Help Your Neighborhood News Guy Do A Better Job!

Hello!

For those who don’t know me, I’m Wes Platt, the editor and publisher of Southpoint Access who’s really just trying to spend his time working for you as your Neighborhood News Guy.

However, as much fun as I’m having at this gig, it really needs more help from folks like you to make sure that all our neighbors are as engaged and well-informed as possible about what’s happening and why it matters in South Durham.

I just can’t be everywhere all the time, but I know that I can rely on my Southpoint Access pals to provide extra eyes and ears, keeping me informed about neighborhood-specific updates, upcoming events, and amazing achievements that help us build community pride and connections.

Also, let’s be clear, this operation shouldn’t just be me hammering you with my voice all the time. Luckily, I’ve got help from Heather Leigh Hindin, a Durham mother who’s passionate about plenty when it comes to raising a family and living a happy life in the Bull City; and Jeff Stanford, one of my oldest friends and a major movie nerd like me bringing you his Nerdspresso columns. But I think that, from what I’ve seen in groups like the SoDu Parents Posse on Facebook, we’ve got many distinct and unique voices waiting to be heard.

With me so far? I hope so. And I hope you’re thinking of people you know who might fit the bill – or maybe *you’re* one of the best candidates for new contributors! Forward this email to anyone you expect could help make Southpoint Access the best news resource for neighbors in this area.

What I’m looking for: go-to contacts in neighborhoods – especially in the 27707 and 27713 zipcodes – who can drop me a line about news in their subdivisions, new businesses in the area, traffic construction and detours, recaps of neighborhood events, or even possible special-interest features. You send the information, we discuss it, and either I edit the article and run it, or – if you prefer – I use that information to develop a story myself.

Are you looped into what’s happening in Fairfield? Maybe you hear about all the fun activities and food trucks planned at The Lodge? Or do you keep track of all the sporting events at Woodcroft? Whatever your focus, as long as it’s of interest in South Durham, I’m happy to hear about it.
