Southpoint Event Aims to Raise Awareness About Breast Cancer

Join The Streets at Southpoint on Oct. 19 for breast cancer education, mammogram scheduling assistance, and retailer-donated giveaways - all to benefit North Carolina’s Pretty in Pink Foundation.

Southpoint hosts a Breast Cancer Awareness & Survivor Event on Sunday, Oct. 19, 1–3 p.m., with on-site screening info and a fundraiser for Pretty in Pink.

According to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, more than 8,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year in the state, and about 1,000 die from the disease annually - figures that highlight the importance of early detection and access to care in North Carolina.

Against that backdrop, The Streets at Southpoint will host a Breast Cancer Awareness & Survivor Event on Sunday, Oct. 19, from 1 to 3 p.m. in Center Court (lower level near Nordstrom). The community is invited to learn about screening options, pick up educational materials, and support local patients.

The event features complimentary refreshments and a prize drawing with items from Torrid, Purple, and Aroma360. All proceeds benefit the Pretty in Pink Foundation, a North Carolina nonprofit that helps uninsured and under-insured breast cancer patients pay for treatment.

Wake Radiology UNC Health Rex will be on site to explain early-detection tools - mammograms and Fast Breast MRI - and help visitors schedule annual mammograms during the event.

Throughout Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Center Court will be decorated in pink, and free educational materials on prevention, screening, and treatment will be available. Wake Radiology is also partnering with Belk: each Saturday in October, shoppers who purchase a bra receive a complimentary delicates bag (while supplies last).

To learn more about the beneficiary, visit the Pretty in Pink Foundation; information about breast imaging and scheduling is available through Wake Radiology UNC Health Rex.
