Support the Local News That Keeps South Durham Informed

This work is free to read because neighbors deserve to stay informed. But good local journalism takes time, energy, and funding - and through June 10, your support will also help RootEd in DPS through a revenue-sharing partnership.

SoDu Shopping Basket: Aldi Leads Again

Local news is one of the few things that keeps a community connected to itself. It helps people understand what's changing, what decisions are being made, who's accountable, and what deserves attention before it's too late.

In a place like South Durham, that means covering schools, development, traffic, local government, youth sports, business, and the everyday stories that define life here.

You’re reading this for free, and I’m happy to make this work accessible because I believe neighbors should be informed. At the same time, I hope you’ll support the work I do to keep this community informed. Reporting like this takes time, energy, and funding - and community support is what keeps it going.

If this reporting has helped you stay informed, discover something important, or feel more connected to the community, please consider supporting it with a subscription, donation, or sponsorship.

Tickets for Teachers - Supporting RootEd for DPS!
Neighborhood News Guy Wes Platt talks with Matt Sears about RootEd in DPS and a fundraising effort to support Tickets for Teachers.

I’m also glad to share that through June 10, I’ve launched a revenue-sharing partnership with RootEd in DPS. That means your support right now can help sustain local journalism while also lifting up work that supports Durham students, families, and educators.

Local news does not survive on appreciation alone (although it's great to be appreciated). It survives when readers decide it's worth paying for.

If you believe this kind of coverage should exist, now's a great time to help make sure it does.

Best,
