"Tiny Science" with Big Impact?
Explore the world of nanotechnology and take home a DNA-themed STEM kit at the first-floor MakerLab, Durham County Main Library on Saturday, April 20, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. This special NCSciFest event, featuring experts from Duke University, will introduce the marvels of “tiny science” with activities including:
- Examining objects up-close with both light microscopes and a scanning electron microscope (SEM).
- Dressing up in cleanroom engineer outfits for the STEM photobooth.
- Creating UV-print paper designs with UV light and discovering how it’s related to making computer chips.
- Discovering how 3D printing creates models of nanoscale structures, like DNA.
This is a free, drop-in event, with DNA STEM kits available on a first-come, first-serve basis. For accessibility accommodations or questions, contact Maker_STEAM@dconc.gov at least three business days before the event.
