County program honoring U.S. military veterans across all branches.

Vietnam Veterans Writing Workshop
5–6:30 p.m. | Southwest Regional Library, 3605 Shannon Rd.
Eight-week creative writing series tailored for Vietnam veterans (all veterans welcome). Led by Writer in Residence Dr. Joey Lew; VA-approved format; culminates in a public reading.

Five Steps to a Healthy Holiday Season

Interactive nutrition workshop with Lucy Hayhurst, Well Balanced Nutrition (registered dietitian). Samples provided (limited); please register.

Friday, Nov. 14

Friday Fun Night
6–8 p.m. | WD Hill Recreation Center, 1309 Halley St.
Sports, arts & crafts, and a movie for grades K–8. Preregistration required.
Fees: CR $3 | NCR $8 (Ages 5–12)

Saturday, Nov. 15

Turkey Bowl (Flag Football)
9 a.m.–2 p.m. | 701 Stadium Dr.
Eight teams compete for the inaugural title. Ages 18+; preregistration required.

Parkwood Fall Festival
11 a.m.–4 p.m. | 5124 Revere Rd.

Brewing in Babylon: A History of Beer in Ancient Mesopotamia
5–6:30 p.m. | The Glass Jug Beer Lab RTP, 5410 NC Hwy. 55
Archaeologist Tate Paulette (NC State) introduces In the Land of Ninkasi. Outdoor talk; grab a beverage and learn about the world’s first beer culture. Doors 4:30 p.m. First come, first served; register for a reminder.
