Families have until Oct. 30 to tell Durham Public Schools what they think about their schools' proposed improvement plans, documents that set goals for teaching, learning, and student support.

A Southpoint Access review of plans from 17 elementary, middle, and high schools in South and southeastern Durham found recurring priorities: helping students catch up academically, improving attendance, coordinating extra support, and strengthening relationships with families. The goals and proposed approaches vary from school to school.

Here's how to participate:

  1. Visit the district's School Improvement Plans webpage to find their school's plan and guest login information.
  2. Use those credentials to read the plan at Indistar.
  3. Complete the School Improvement Plan Feedback Survey, selecting their school and answering all questions by Oct. 30.
