Duke Energy plans to ask the Durham Board of Adjustment on Tuesday to postpone hearings on its proposed 270-foot communications tower on Scott King Road while the company conducts a balloon test at the site.

The tower is proposed for Duke Energy’s Parkwood Tie substation at 728 Scott King Rd.

The Board of Adjustment is still scheduled to take up the case Tuesday, Sept. 22, but board members first must decide whether to grant Duke Energy’s request for a continuance.

If they do, the board also must choose a specific date for the hearings to resume.

“We will not know that date until the meeting tomorrow,” Jessica Dockery of the Durham Planning Department told Southpoint Access.
